Books We Read in February

This (plus a few from yesterday that I don’t know the names of) is the list of books that Calvin read in February. It’s crazy that we’ve read over 100 books in 2 months when we probably didn’t read that many in all of last year combined. Prior to homeschooling, Calvin was pretty resistant to us reading to him. People who have similar struggles with their child have asked me how we’ve managed this turn around.

1.) He’s not in a school all day, so he’s not as tired of structured learning at the end of the day. It’s done a lot to work on our relationship as well. I know if we go back to school full time, we won’t be able to keep this pace up.

2.) Reading is one of his ‘jobs’. Calvin asked for some ‘work’ to do to make his own money. For every book we read, he gets 25 cents. He also has other chores that he can earn money for. Once a week, we go to the dollar store for him to make purchases.

3.) We read to cats! This has done so much for his love of literacy!
